Here at Eland we suffer from a love of our books.  For we are determined not only to keep them all in print but also keep to our high production standards (in terms of print, paper, sewn binding and fine art covers) that have long since been disgarded by the big multinational companies.  To make our task even more complicated, the big chain booksellers (plus amazon and the wholesellers) demand a very high trade discount - currently pitched at 55%. Nor is there any way out of this by printing a sufficiently large enough run to keep the unit price low, as the warehouses now charge publishers a fine for holding more than two years worth of stock. The only way for us to survive (without sacrificing quality or the range of our back list) has been to increase the cover price.  So far we have managed to keep our prices pegged at the same level as a film ticket or a good bottle of wine, but we worry that not all our readers can afford this. This is especially true of a recent run of new editions from the back list, where due to the small print runs, the prices have now edged up to between £12.99 and £13.99.

So this is why we have created this corner of our website where the more expensive of our new editions are available at a 20 or 25% discount to our loyal readers. The only place you will be able to take advantage of this offer is here.

The Norman Lewis Box Set
Rose has designed a handsome black and gold Eland box that holds all five of our Norman Lewis titles (Naples 44, Golden Earth, Honoured Society, A Dragon Apparent and A View of the World) in a tight embrace and which is also heavy enough to double as a book-end. This would make a very handsome birthday present to a close friend or to self. Our list price for the set would be £62.95, but we plan to sell it to you, with the box thrown in, for £50.

Buy here, email info@travelbooks.co.uk or telephone +44 (0) 20 7833 0762 for more information.
